Why are we running?

Because they're chasing us.

I love Life On Mars.

In other news, I love Life On Mars.

In other news, you should love Life On Mars too.

In other news, I think my pre-disposition to depression will lead me to imminent suicide or madness.

In other news, there's always Life On Mars.

Those officers not fight like hens in a coop
Now you know what I must do
Show you the angry leg
Furious
Now we join the friend gang with names
You are Binky
You are Mrs. Binky
I am number seventeen
Now we shall do the friendship salute
Ploon ploon ploon

Update? Nevah!

I've been really crap at updating, but as I sit here with my fizzing glass of aspirin, preparing myself to go have breakfast with my mother (who agrees to have breakfast with their mother the morning after what they knew was gonna be at least a middle sized night out?) I figured I'd write something...something.....
Speaking of something, I sang that at the wine bar last night.
I have two big fearsand I feel as if I confronted them both yesterday. During the day Blair and I went fishing (Blair fished and I took photos and followed him upstream) which required a lot of wading through water, and muddy banks and basically a lot of places leeches would love. I haaaaaate leeches, especially since 'The Boobyalla Incident' featuring at least 100 leeches and a panicking Kate. So going anywhere that may have leeches usually has me freaking out, but yesterday I spent ages standing in mug and wading through riverbed without a single freakout (or a single leech, truth be told, but that's not the point) even if I did keep checking my legs.
Last night Blair and I went to the local wine bar. We had a couple of friends we were expecting to join us, but they bailed , so it was just Blair and me, alcohol, a bunch of friendly strangers and.....a karaoke machine.
My other great fear in life is public speaking, and I've never done proper karaoke before (apart from anything, I can't sing for shit) because I'm just too scared. But last night, with the promise that "the next person to get p and sing will get a free cocktail" I got up and did Radio Ga-Ga. That set me off. I then did a duet of Mama Mia with the karaoke guy. Then I was drunk and it was Something Stupid with Blair, Something by myself but really with the crowd, and god, a bunch of songs I'm now having a bit of trouble remembering.

It was a good day,a nd if I can get rid of at least most of this hangover in the next 20 minutes and go meet my mother with a smile that will fool her, I'll consider it a complete success.

It's beginning to look a lot like Xmas

I mean, Xmas wouldn't be Xmas without a pall of smoke covering the state now would it?

Truthfully I've never seen this much smoke.

They say the front could reach 100kms and burn for months.

We knew it was coming, but it bloody well sucks now it's here.

And she went wii wii wii all the way home

I bought a Wii.

FSM knows why, but I did.

After all the hoo-ha about pre-orders and low stock and "we can't guarantee you'll get one" I turned up at Target at 9am, stood around for about 10 minutes, doors opened, bought a Wii and was out, having spent half an hour (some of which was deciding whether or not to buy Zelda yet). Apart from them not having the contoller covers, it was easy. And of course, I got my lovely 5% discount.

So, I've spent the morning playing Wii Sport, Wii Play and Zelda. I haven't ever owned a game console before. When I was a kid I used to go and stay with a friend fairly frequently, and he had a Nintendo. I so wanted one. We used to play Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt and all these stupid games and now I have a Nintendo of my own!! And even better - the controller is brilliant. Playing the sports games is super fun, especially Tennis, Bowling and Boxing.

I'll stop raving and get back to Zelda now.

:( :(

Not that I have ever been a fan of the work of either (much...I mean, what Australian hasn't watched the odd episode of Rove Live?) but I was really sad to read just now that Belinda Emmett died. I'm not usually one to get upset at the death of a celebrity/someone I don't know, but having seen how brave she has been, heard her intelligent and articulate words about her struggle with cancer, and seen the amazingly loving and supportive relationship between her and her husband, I'm really upset. I know it was inevitable, and not a surprise when one takes into account her frail appearance the past year (did anyone see her at the Logies? I can't believe she actually went, she looked so frail. But she had to be there for Rove...) but I didn't see it coming and now it's kinda ruined my first day off in ten days.

Now I'm being a selfish, nasty bitch. I don't have breast and/or bone cancer, and I hopefully won't die at the age of 32.

Today's Remembrance Day. I went to the gym for two classes, and during one of the tracks, we all stopped, had a minute's silence, and then went back to doing tricep presses. It was a bit...odd. But at least the instructor remembered.

I'm a bit pissed off my poppy fell apart.

Anyway, I'm gonna try to get over all this Remembrance Day/Celebrity Death misery and have a shower and maybe go have purple put in my hair. At any rate I'm baking muffins.
